Questions to take

At the conversation

# Ask for reasons you can repeat in your own words.

Use a visit to get reasons, not just a yes or no. Keep the medicine name and the goal of care next to each other in your notes.

Ask for the reason, then ask what that reason means for you.

Ask this

Keep a note of this

Which concern would this treatment address?

A clear aim, in words that match your concern.

What is the full medicine name?

The ingredient, product name and whether a pharmacy would prepare it for you.

What else could address this concern?

The options to discuss, including waiting or choosing no medicine.

What in my history could rule this option out?

The parts of your health history the person treating you wants to discuss.

## Give the conversation some context

Note the concern that led you to seek care. Add what you hope to change. List your current medicines and supplements, plus any questions that feel hard to ask.

What in my health history changes the options?

What tests would help, and what would each result change?

Would a hands-on exam add something this visit cannot?

Can I have the proposed plan in writing to think over?

Doctors have state medical boards overseeing their work. Those boards join the Federation of State Medical Boards to share advice about care.

That group’s advice says the person treating you must arrange needed tests or send you to someone else if an online visit cannot give enough information.

## Ask what happens after the visit ends

### An answer worth keeping

Ask who handles follow-up, how to reach them and how the plan will be reviewed.

### An answer that leaves a gap

A reply that points only to messaging leaves a gap: who receives it, and when can you expect an answer?

What changes in my health would mean calling the person treating me?

Who can explain an unclear pharmacy label?

How do I get copies of my notes and test results?

How do I stop a paid plan if I decide against it?

Patients must be free to question the person who gave their care after a visit. This is in the group’s May 2026 advice.

These papers give advice for care. Florida’s own rules decide what can be enforced here.
